Basic Ingredients

  • 2½ cups unsweetened shredded coconut

  • ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk (about half a 14 oz can)

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks

Optional Add-Ons (For Variations)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for flavor depth)

  • Whole almonds (for an Almond Joy-style twist)

  • Pinch of sea salt (to enhance flavor)

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (for smoother chocolate coating)


Instructions

Step 1: Mix the Coconut Base

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine shredded coconut and sweetened condensed milk.

  2. Stir until the mixture becomes thick and sticky. Every coconut shred should be coated.

Step 2: Shape the Bars

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Scoop out heaping tablespoons of the mixture and form into small rectangular bars or oval mounds (about 2 inches long).

  3. Place each formed bar onto the parchment-lined tray.

Step 3: Chill

  1. Place the tray in the freezer for 20–30 minutes, or until the bars are firm. This helps them hold shape during chocolate dipping.

Step 4: Melt the Chocolate

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. You can also use a double boiler if preferred.

  2. Optional: Stir in coconut oil for extra shine and a smoother coating.

Step 5: Dip the Bars

  1. Remove the bars from the freezer.

  2. Using two forks, dip each coconut bar into the melted chocolate until fully coated. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.

  3. Place dipped bars back onto the parchment-lined tray.
