Preparation

- In another bowl, beat together the sugar, milk, oil, and egg until smooth.
- Stir the dry ingredients into the wet mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chopped strawberries, reserve some for topping.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake for 5 minutes in the pan, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
Topping
- Top with sliced strawberries and a dusting of cocoa powder or a quick glaze of melted chocolate, if desired.
Notes
