  • 4 large eggs Whisked.
  • 1 cup milk or cream Your choice of milk or cream can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor.

  • 1 cup pecans, chopped Add a crunchy texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Tear or cut the bread into 1-inch cubes.
  3. Warm the apple cider with a little brown sugar and cinnamon, then pour it over the bread so the pieces soak well.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or cream, vanilla extract, and salt.
  5. Stir in the chopped pecans and pour the egg mixture over the soaked bread.
  6. Press the bread down gently so it absorbs the liquid.
  7. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
Baking
  1. Bake in a buttered dish for 40 to 50 minutes, until the center is set and the top is golden.
  2. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Use day old bread for the best texture and cut bread into even cubes for consistent soaking. Check doneness by inserting a knife in the center; it should come out mostly clean.
