Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar Adjust for sweetness preference
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (cubed) Keep butter cold for flaky texture
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (chopped) Can substitute with dried cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest Fresh zest recommended
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt or buttermilk
  • 1 large egg

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. Add in the cold cubed butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in the cranberries and orange zest until combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sour cream and egg until smooth.
  6. Add the sour cream mixture to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
  7. On a floured surface, turn the dough out and shape it into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  8. Cut the dough into wedges and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  2. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with powdered sugar, clotted cream, or honey. For a festive touch, add fresh orange slices or whole cranberries as garnish.
