Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large apples Varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp are recommended for their sweetness and ability to hold shape.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version.
  • 2 large eggs Beaten for coating.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon For flavor enhancement.
  • 1 pinch salt To taste.
Optional Serving Suggestions
  • caramel sauce For dipping.
  • yogurt or whipped cream For a lighter dessert option.
  • powdered sugar For dusting on cooked fries.
  • chocolate dip Another fun dipping option.

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin strips resembling fries.
  2. In the first bowl, place the flour. In the second bowl, beat the eggs. In the third bowl, mix breadcrumbs with cinnamon and salt.
Coating
  1. Dip each apple strip into the flour, then the eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring each strip is well coated.
Cooking
  1. Place the coated apple fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  2. Set the temperature to 375°F (190°C) and cook for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
  3. Let the apple fries cool for a few moments before serving.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. If needed, cook in batches. Spray the apple fries lightly with cooking oil before air frying for added crispiness. These fries are best served warm.
