Preparation and Cooking
- In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat until fully cooked, then drain any excess fat.
- Transfer the cooked sausage to the crockpot and add the chicken broth.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
- Add the tortellini and heavy cream to the crockpot and stir gently.
- Cook on low for an additional 30 minutes until the tortellini is tender.
- Stir in the spinach or kale and cook for another 30 minutes.
Notes
Serve with crusty bread, a fresh green salad, or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese for added flavor. Preferably enjoyed during colder months for maximum comfort.
