Ingredients
Method
Prepare the crust
- Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- Add diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add cold water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.
Prepare the filling
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out one disc of dough on a floured surface to fit your pie pan.
- Place it in the pie pan and fill it with sliced apples.
- In a bowl, mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt, then sprinkle over the apples.
- Roll out the second dough disc and place it on top of the filling. Crimp the edges to seal and cut a few slits in the top for steam to escape.
Bake the pie
- Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C).
- Continue baking for 30-35 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool before serving.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature. Can add ice cream or whipped cream for extra flavor.
