Ingredients
  

For the squares
  • 1 loaf Crusty baguette or favorite bread A firmer bread that can hold up to the fillings.
  • 1 pound Thinly sliced roast beef You can also use turkey or ham for a different flavor.
  • 8 ounces Gooey cheese Cheddar or Swiss cheese works great.
For the au jus
  • 2 cups Beef broth Let simmer gently to enhance flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce Adds depth to the au jus.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into squares and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Fill each square with thinly sliced roast beef and an ample amount of cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake the filled squares in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Au Jus Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine beef broth and soy sauce, and let it simmer gently.

Notes

Serve with a crisp green salad or vegetable sticks. Reheat leftovers in the oven for the best taste.
