Ingredients
  

Bread and Filling
  • 8 slices slices of brioche or challah bread For the best flavor and texture
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened Use high-quality cream cheese for best results
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar Plus more for dusting before serving
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Fresh strawberries are recommended for best taste
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam Can substitute with other flavored jams
Egg Mixture and Frying
  • 2 large eggs For dipping the sandwiches
  • 3 tbsp milk To mix with eggs
  • 2 tbsp butter For frying sandwiches

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto one side of four bread slices.
  3. Add sliced strawberries and a spoonful of strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese layer. Cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
Frying
  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  2. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the skillet and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Best served warm. Can be garnished with fresh strawberries and served with whipped cream or chocolate sauce.
