Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup warm milk Should be warm to the touch, not hot.
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted For the dough and for topping.
  • 3 cups flour All-purpose flour recommended.
  • 1 tsp salt
Honey Butter Topping
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted For topping the rolls.
  • 1/4 cup honey

Method

Preparation of Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and allow to activate for about five minutes until foamy.
  2. Melt the butter and add it to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about one hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Second Rise
  1. After the dough has risen, gently punch it down and divide into small, even balls.
  2. Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking dish.
  3. Melt butter for topping and stir in honey, then brush generously over the rolls.
  4. Cover the dish and allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
  3. Let cool slightly before serving, and brush with additional honey butter for extra flavor.

Notes

Kneading the dough properly is crucial for developing gluten, leading to a fluffy texture. Brush rolls with honey butter immediately after baking for a glossy finish.
