Method
Preparation of Dough
- In a mixing bowl, stir together the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and allow to activate for about five minutes until foamy.
- Melt the butter and add it to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about one hour or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Second Rise
- After the dough has risen, gently punch it down and divide into small, even balls.
- Arrange the dough balls in a greased baking dish.
- Melt butter for topping and stir in honey, then brush generously over the rolls.
- Cover the dish and allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Bake rolls for 25–30 minutes or until tops are golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving, and brush with additional honey butter for extra flavor.
Notes
Kneading the dough properly is crucial for developing gluten, leading to a fluffy texture. Brush rolls with honey butter immediately after baking for a glossy finish.
