- Lay out all ingredients on the counter.
- Toast the bread lightly, if you prefer crisp edges.
- Spread mayo or sauce on both sides of the bread.
- Add a layer of cheese on the bottom slice, followed by slices of ham and turkey.
- Layer with pickles, lettuce, and thin tomato slices.
- Top with more cheese and then the top slice of bread. Press the sandwich gently to hold together.
- Cut the sandwich into big pieces and serve.
Notes
Use day-old bread to avoid soggy slices. Press the sandwich for a minute before cutting to keep layers in place. Serve with potato chips or carrot sticks.
