Ingredients
  

For the sandwich
  • 1 large loaf large loaf of bread You can also use two big sandwich rolls.
  • 2 tablespoons mayo or sauce Spread on both sides of the bread.
  • 4 slices cheese Use your favorite cheese, layered.
  • 4 slices ham Or use other deli meats as preferred.
  • 4 slices turkey Other deli meats like roast beef or salami work too.
  • 1/2 cup pickles Sliced pickles to add a crunch.
  • 1 cup lettuce Shredded or whole leaves.
  • 1 medium tomato Thinly sliced.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Lay out all ingredients on the counter.
  2. Toast the bread lightly, if you prefer crisp edges.
  3. Spread mayo or sauce on both sides of the bread.
  4. Add a layer of cheese on the bottom slice, followed by slices of ham and turkey.
  5. Layer with pickles, lettuce, and thin tomato slices.
  6. Top with more cheese and then the top slice of bread. Press the sandwich gently to hold together.
  7. Cut the sandwich into big pieces and serve.

Notes

Use day-old bread to avoid soggy slices. Press the sandwich for a minute before cutting to keep layers in place. Serve with potato chips or carrot sticks.
