Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 large bell peppers (green, red, or a mix), diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese 1 package
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell peppers, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook while breaking up the meat with a spatula until completely browned, about 7-8 minutes.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese, stirring until it melts completely and coats the meat and vegetable mixture.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Layer the sliced provolone cheese over the beef mixture, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  9. Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken, and add veggies like mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor. For spiciness, add sliced jalapeños.
