Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell peppers, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook while breaking up the meat with a spatula until completely browned, about 7-8 minutes.
- Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
- Reduce heat to low. Add the softened cream cheese, stirring until it melts completely and coats the meat and vegetable mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Layer the sliced provolone cheese over the beef mixture, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
You can substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken, and add veggies like mushrooms or spinach for extra flavor. For spiciness, add sliced jalapeños.
