Preparation
- Start with a block of cream cheese softened at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- Place the cream cheese in a small bowl and beat it with a fork or small whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Spoon pepper jelly over the cream cheese, using about a half cup for an 8-ounce block.
- Smooth the jelly over the top or leave a swirl to display the colors.
- Optionally, fold in a few spoonfuls of jelly into the cream cheese for a mixed dip, but do not overmix.
- Add toppings if desired, such as green onions, bacon, or nuts.
- Chill the dip for 15 to 30 minutes to firm up slightly for easier spreading.
Serving
- Serve with crackers, bagel chips, pita chips, or raw vegetables.
- Keep leftovers in the fridge for a few days, covered tightly.
Notes
Always soften the cream cheese for the best texture. You can use low fat cream cheese, but it will be thinner. For a cleaner look, add jelly on top just before serving.
