  • 1 lb ground beef Choose lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 pkg frozen tater tots No need to thaw before using.
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with cream of chicken or celery.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Pepper Jack work well.
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 cup chopped onions Add for extra flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic Chopped or minced.
  • 1 tbsp seasoning Salt, pepper, garlic powder, or Italian herbs.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the cream of mushroom soup to the skillet and mix well with the beef. Optionally add chopped onions and garlic for flavor.
Assembly
  1. Spread the beef mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  2. Top it with a layer of frozen tater tots, then sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  2. Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispier topping, you can bake the casserole for a few extra minutes. Mix in sour cream or cream cheese for a creamier texture. Can customize with various vegetables like bell peppers or corn.
