  • 2 medium sweet potatoes Cooked and mashed.
  • 1 medium onion Diced.
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese Shredded, for topping.
  • 2 tbsp butter For mashing the sweet potatoes.
  • to taste salt

  • optional spices (like cumin or paprika) Customize to your liking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey until browned.
  2. Add diced onions, minced garlic, and your favorite seasonings, and stir until fragrant.
  3. In a separate bowl, mash the cooked sweet potatoes with butter, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Layer the turkey mixture in a baking dish.
  2. Spread the sweet potato mash on top of the turkey mixture.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the sweet potato layer.
Baking
  1. Bake in a preheated oven until heated through and cheese is golden, about 25-30 minutes.

Notes

The casserole can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the fridge before baking. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days.
