Ingredients

For the Bites
  • 36 pieces mini pretzel twists (about 2 cups; can use pretzel cups)
  • 36 pieces soft caramels (or 1 1/2 cups caramel bits)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream (helps the caramel melt smoothly)
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional, adds contrast)
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or 36 chocolate kisses)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (for glossy chocolate)
  • to taste optional heart-shaped sprinkles (for decoration)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed pretzels (optional topping)

Method

Preheat & Prepare the Base
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the pretzels on the lined baking sheet in neat rows.
Make the Main Filling (Caramel)
  1. Unwrap the caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl with the heavy cream. Microwave in 20-30 second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  2. Alternatively, melt the caramels in a small saucepan over low heat with the cream, stirring constantly.
  3. If the caramel is too stiff, add more cream until it is pourable but not soupy.
Assemble and Chill/Bake
  1. Spoon a small amount of caramel on top of each pretzel. If using wrapped caramels, press them gently into the pretzel.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 3-4 minutes until caramels are glossy.
  3. Press a chocolate chip or kiss into each warm caramel and swirl it into a smooth cap.
  4. Sprinkle with heart sprinkles while chocolate is still soft.
  5. Chill in the fridge for 10-20 minutes until set.

Notes

Enjoy these warm or at room temperature, and for a festive touch, use pink-tinted white chocolate for some bites.
