  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Always use room temperature butter.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Can customize with different types of chocolate.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips ensuring even distribution.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake them and cool on the baking sheet. Consider customizing with nuts or different chocolate chips.
