Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the orange juice.
- Stir in the chopped figs, pecans, and orange zest until evenly combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool before adding the orange glaze.
Making the Glaze
- In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of powdered sugar with the zest of one orange and enough orange juice to create a pourable consistency.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake.
Notes
Make sure your figs are ripe for the best flavor. Dried figs can be used, just chop them into smaller pieces. Allow the cake to cool completely before glazing for clean, beautiful drips.
